Terms of Use
Effective 8 October 2026 · Version 1.1
1. Agreement
These Terms apply to the Vow app for iPhone and to this website. The app is developed by Anton Kremer (“we”). By using Vow you accept these Terms. Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to the app; if the two conflict about the licence to use the app, Apple’s agreement prevails.
2. What Vow is
Vow helps you keep commitments you set for yourself: challenges, askeses, events, paired askeses and a Year Intention. Vow does not verify what you do in real life. Marks are made by you and reflect your own honesty. Texts and tips in the app are about discipline and behaviour; they are not medical, psychological, legal or financial advice.
3. Age
You must be at least 13 to use Vow. From 13 to 17 Vow works without askesis. Askesis is available from 18. If the law of your country requires parental consent for someone your age, use Vow only with that consent.
4. Payments
Vow is free: the app has no in-app purchases, subscriptions or ads. If paid features are added to Vow in the future, we will update these Terms beforehand and show the price before any purchase.
5. Your data
Your data is stored on your device, as described in the Privacy Policy. We cannot recover it for you. Deleting the app, or using Delete all my data, erases it for good. Keep regular iPhone backups if your history matters to you.
6. Paired askesis
Share an invite code only with the person you want to join you. Do not use paired askesis to pressure or harass anyone. Each participant is responsible for their own marks.
7. Health and safety
Choose restrictions that are safe for you. If you have a medical condition, an addiction, an eating disorder or are pregnant, consult a qualified professional before starting an askesis that affects food, drink, sleep, medication or physical activity. Stop any practice that harms you. Ending a vow early is always possible.
8. Acceptable use
Do not interfere with the app or with Apple’s services, or copy and redistribute the catalog. You may share your own certificates and screenshots.
9. Intellectual property
The app, its design, the catalog of challenges, askeses, events and practices, and all texts belong to us or our licensors. Using Vow does not transfer these rights to you.
10. Changes to the app
We may update Vow, add or remove features and change the catalog. Event dates follow the calendars of each tradition and can be adjusted.
11. Liability
We work to make Vow reliable, but we provide it as it is and cannot promise that it will always be available or free of errors. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses or for lost data, and our total liability is limited to 50 US dollars. These limits do not apply where the law does not allow them, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for intentional or grossly negligent conduct.
12. Ending
You can stop using Vow at any time by deleting the app. We may stop providing Vow in the future; if we do, we will say so on this website.
13. Changes to these Terms
If these Terms change, the new version will appear at this address with a new date. By continuing to use Vow after that, you accept the new version.
